New Mexico’s most Balkan folk band A Hawk And A Hacksaw will kick off a U.S. tour July 21 in is home state before flying off to gigs across the country. The group, centered around Neutral Milk Hotel‘s Jeremy Barnes and violinist Heather Trost, released its fourth album Cervantine in February, another blend of music from Eastern European countries like Yugoslavia and Romania.

Since forming in 2000, A Hawk and a Hacksaw have expanded beyond the core duo to include a fluctuating entourage of musicians. In 2006, the band recorded with fellow New Mexican Balkan-inspired folk group Beirut on Beirut’s debut album Gulag Orkestar. AHAAH has started its own label, L.M. Duplication, in order to promote folk music from spots across the globe.

After two dates in the Southwest, A Hawk And A Hacksaw’s tour will head East. They have also scheduled a stop in the UK come December. Check below this LARPing video for tour dates.
