Head of Music & Event Management Programme
Jonas Bjälesjö is head of the Music & Event Management Program and lecturer at the Linnaeus University School of Business & Economics, Kalmar and Hultsfred, Sweden. He teaches the subjects Music & Event Management with focus on cultural and social aspects of music and music industry. He has been responsible for education development and research at the center for music- and experience industry Rockcity, Hultsfred which includes several research projects and conferences in collaboration with different academic as well as business associates. He is also connected to the Department of European Ethnology at Lund University through his research around popular music, youth culture, music festivals, local music life and music tourism with focus on the festival phenomena and the landscape of Scandinavian music festivals. He is also Chairman of the Swedish Rockarchives, Former Swedish contact person and member of the Board for IASPM-Norden (International Association for the Study of Popular Music) and Swedish partner in the European Union education project Muzone (a Leonardo DaVinci project).
Jonas Bjälesjö has also been responsible for different research projects concerning youth, music associations, popular culture and festivals through European Union and Swedish government institutions. He is also board member of the Swedish academy for amateur/voluntary culture. He has been a guest teacher and mentor at several universities in the US, Germany, Finland and Norway.
