Sam is Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Business in NYU Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. His research and teaching interests include the political economy of international music industries and emerging network and hybrid business models, national and supranational intellectual property and copyright policies, globalization and cultural hybridity in the BRIC countries, remix/mashup culture, the Access to Knowledge and information rights social movements, and cultural economics across the continental Americas. He is also the founder of the NYU Music Video Games Research Project. In 2012 Sam completed his PhD dissertation on globalization, copyright governance, music, and hybrid "social imaginaries" in the US, Canada, and Brazil, and will teach his graduate-level course "Emerging Models and Markets for Music" in Brazil in the summer of 2013. Sam’s undergraduate-level courses include “Music in the Media Business,” “International Music Marketplace,” and “Interactive, Internet, and Mobile Music.”
