The opening night of Unsound Festival New York was characterized by a hushed reverence for what was about to be performed and who would perform it. And rightly so, as Krakow’s royal orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, was launching the second edition of the Polish festival aimed at showcasing innovation in sound with a mixed program of stark modernism, lush exploration and utilization of strings and electronics. The festival spans collaboration and experimentation by way of labs and performances outlining both the avant-garde as well as electronic music made for club soundsystems, yet the voice of Unsound was established with this, its opening event.
