Whereas last year’s Taiwanese Music Festival
focused on pop and rock-driven artists, this year’s showcase was more electronic and hip hop oriented. Queens-based Miss Ko
brought her Golden Medley Award (The Taiwanese version of a Grammy) to the stage and spoke about breaking boundaries. Joanna Wang
made wacky cartoon faces as she charged through pop tracks from her recent album Galaxy Crisis
. But the biggest surprise of the night came from DJ Noodles
, whose stellar spinning skills had the crowd writhing through strobe lights. She closed the night with a few collaborations with Brooklyn’s Rabbi Darkside
