Surfer Blood – Photo by Annie Lesser
kicked off this year’s Santa Monica Pier Twilight Concerts
to hundreds on the pier and hundreds more who opted to set up camp on the beach and listen to Surfer Blood’s breezy pop gems with a view of the ocean. Those who did face the stage were greeted by the somehow still fresh faces of southern Florida’s finest beach rockers.
The element that complimented the music most though, was not the visuals of crashing waves or the iconic Santa Monica Ferris Wheel, but instead the smell of salt water in the air. It was of course mixed with the scent of illicit substances (ahh, California), but I doubt anyone really minded that.
