While this big room showcase, set up by Domino Records
, was laden with upbeat, catchy, buzzy acts, the overall vibe was laid back, like in that art school sophomore, hang out-and-sway way. They dug the sounds, they just didn’t want you to know
they dug the sounds.
Jonathan Rado & the Gentlemen Jets
were perhaps most anticipated, since Rado has only recently gone on a solo turn off of his main band, Foxygen. His sixties-indebted psych-pop grabbed the crowd who mostly stuck around for Real Estate’s
beloved indie rock.
