Peelander-Z might have been playing to a Halloween night crowd last night at Glasslands in Brooklyn. But to singer Peelander Yellow, this was just another day at the plastic primary-color costume and sweat-soaked day at the office. “What is a Halloween?” said Mr. Yellow. “You are wearing costume! This is not costume, this is our skin! We are from planet Peelander!” They played some of their new Metalander-Z songs along with old favorites like So Many Mike, Mad Tiger and Ninja High School (all complete with the appropriate lyric signs held up to help the crowd sing along).

Before their set, two members of Kaiju Big Battel appeared onstage—French Toast and Kung Fu Chicken Noodle Soup—both of whom had a hard time navigating their way onstage and unfortunately did not get around to actually battling each other. A Peelander-Z show isn’t complete without crowd participation via banging on metal bowls with drumsticks, audience-wide limbo and jump rope, and pulling people onstage to play instruments while the band participates in onstage bowling. Their live show is always a good time, and it was made even more fun this time by the audience looking like a bunch of costumed aliens too!
