At yesterday’s Broadcasted: The Reign Of The Music Video panel, a group of professionals from the music video realm gathered to discuss the state of the media form in a world where the “M” in MTV no longer stands for “music.” Moderated by John Norris, a former MTV personality and now a supervising producer in Fuse TV’s news division, the panel included YouTube’s Head of Music Label Partnerships, Heather Moosnick; Jordan Glickson from VEVO’s programming division; Peter Bittenbender of video studio Decon; and directors Chike and Coodie Simmons of Creative Control. Over the course of an hour, the experts discussed everything from monetization and budgets to the increase in creativity and viral phenomenons like “Wrecking Ball”
and “The Fox.”
If there was one thing that the panel made clear, music videos remain a vital medium, even without MTV.
