Those who got to the Knitting Factory “fashionably late” on Saturday night missed some vibrant pop tunes from Brooklyn foursome Marco With Love. Though they played to a small crowd, Marco With Love warmed fans new and old with tracks from their recent LP, Love. Brighton-by-way-of-Melbourne act Kins followed that up with their own take on wistful guitar melodies. Their pretty and dynamic sounds were speckled with surprising hints of melancholy, which had the crowd on its toes.

Courtney Barnett is also a Melbourne local, touring the U.S. after her first stateside appearance at CMJ Music Marathon this past October. But as her silky voice and bold guitar floated the venue through fan favorites like “Avant Gardener” and “History Eraser,” it seemed the audience couldn’t care less which hemisphere they were in.
