Road warhorses the Black Keys put on another fantastic show last Friday at Roseland in NYC. The ubiquitous photography pit rules were more annoying than usual—photogs were only allowed to shoot for the first 30 seconds of the first two songs. Not even Stevie Wonder had those kind of restrictions, and he’s, y’know, Stevie Wonder. And does it not dawn on someone that a down’n’dirty blues rock band like the Black Keys looks best after about a half-hour of rocking. Nevertheless, the whole show was a very fine time. Upstairs or downstairs, the whole crowd was well into it with everybody dancing like crazy. The band played all the hits, and hooch was consumed. The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. set up the night nicely with his stylized street pop, and looked to be having a ball.
