It seemed like half of New York City was at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday night, or at least enough people to completely pack the floor. They were there to see alt-J
, whose delicate British freak-pop managed to make the large venue seem intimate. The dedicated fans threw their finger-triangles in the air (the band’s name is the keyboard shortcut for the delta sign) and swayed to the music. Alt-J played all of their debut album, 2012′s An Awesome Wave
, and a few new jams.
