Manhattan aside, Brooklyn is the most active borough during CMJ Music Marathon. Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Park Slope/Gowanus play host to a number of CMJ venues, which will be bustling with music for all five nights of the festival (Tuesday, October 18, to Saturday, October 22, need we remind you). Here are a few hot tips particularly aimed at out-of-towners to help you get by during Marathon and keep you from getting scalded/scolded by an unfriendly hipster. (Tip #1: The tighter the jeans, the more unfriendly the owner.)

The Joys Of A Private Car Service
Private car services may seem sketchy to out-of-towners (as one seemingly hops into an unmarked, barring a tiny sticker in the corner of one window, car), but they’re actually a clean and reliable way to get home from a show late at night/early in the morning without having to wait on a dark corner to flag down a taxi. Here are our top five recommended car services operating near CMJ venues in Brooklyn:

Arecibo: 718-783-6465
Bushwick Car Service: 718-497-4444
Metroline: 718-388-1111
Mobil: 718-383-8300
Northside: 718-387-2222
