CMJ Industry Area
What is the CMJ Industry Area?
The CMJ Industry Area is a fee-based section of CMJ.com where industry professionals can access artist tracking, airplays reports, charts, etc. The CMJ Industry Area compiles and analyzes college and non-commercial radio airplay information provided in the weekly CMJ New Music Report.
How much does it cost to use the CMJ Industry Area?
The fees associated with the CMJ Industry Area vary depending on the information tools that you access. Prices range from $1 to $45 depending on the type of search you perform. A list of prices can be found here: www.cmj.com/industry/tradepricing.php.
How will I be billed for using the CMJ Industry Area?
The billing cycle for the CMJ Industry area is based on Calendar Months. You will receive an invoice detailing your account usage each month. If you fail to pay your bill within the specified time period 30 days after your receiving the invoice, the credit card saved to your CMJ account will be charged accordingly.
How can I access the CMJ Industry Area?
In order to access the CMJ Industry area, you must create an account at CMJ.com. Anyone can create a CMJ.com account for free. Your account can be used to access a variety of CMJ products and services. If you don’t already have a CMJ.com account, you can create one here: www.cmj.com/account/signup.php.
In order to access the CMJ Industry Area, you must store a credit card in your CMJ.com account. Your credit card will NOT be charged unless you fail to pay your bill by the specified due-date. You will not be charged for accessing the general CMJ Industry Area, but you will be charged if you use any of the CMJ Industry Area information tools. Once you have created your CMJ.com account and you have stored a credit card within your account, your access to the CMJ Industry Area will be active immediately.
Why must I store a credit card in my account to access the CMJ Industry Area?
The CMJ Industry area will not work without a credit card stored in your account. The storage of a credit card is a preventative measure. We will only access your credit card if you fail to pay by the specified date on your monthly bill.
After creating an account and storing a credit card in the account, how long will it take to gain access to the CMJ Industry Area?
Once you have created an account and stored a credit card in the account, you can access the CMJ Industry Area immediately.
Will I be billed for a search that returns no results?
You will not be charged for a search with no results. However, if even 1 result is found, you will be charged the full price.
Will I be billed multiple times for the same exact search?
If you perform a search with exactly the same search criteria multiple times within the same billing cycle (Calendar Month), you will only be charged once. Same search criteria would be exactly the same Artist, Album, Issue, and Chart. If you vary even one detail of your search, you will be charged the full price.
Do I get charged every time I use Artist Tracking?
Every time you do a search in Artist Tracking, you are charged $45, even if it is the same artist, but in a different chart. However, you will be charged only once if you perform a search with exactly the same search criteria within the billing cycle.

What is the CMJ Directory?
The CMJ Directory is a searchable database of contact information available at CMJ.com. Contact information can be found for radio stations, record labels, independent promotion/publicity, retail stores, press, etc.
How much does access to the CMJ Industry Directory cost?
Access to the CMJ Industry Directory can be purchased in a variety of intervals:
$15 per month
$30 per quarter of a year (or 3 three months)
$100 for one year
How can I purchase access the CMJ Industry Directory?
In order to access the CMJ Directory, you must create an account at CMJ.com. Anyone can create an account at CMJ.com for free. One account can be used to access a variety of CMJ products and services. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one here: www.cmj.com/account/signup.php.
Once you have created an account at CMJ.com, you can use your account to purchase a subscription to the CMJ Directory here: www.cmj.com/directory
You must use a credit card to purchase the CMJ Directory. After you have purchased a subscription to the CMJ Directory, your access will be activated immediately.
Is there a way I can purchase the CMJ Industry Directory without a credit card?
If you are a company, radio station, or an individual without access to a credit card, you can call CMJ Customer Service at 917-606-1908, extension 248 and request an invoice for a subscription to the CMJ Online Directory. We will only invoice customers interested in purchasing the CMJ Directory for one year. CMJ can fax or mail you an invoice that you can return with a payment via check or money order. Your access to the CMJ Directory will not be activated until we receive payment.
Does CMJ still publish a print version of the CMJ Directory?
CMJ no longer publishes a print version of the CMJ Directory. However, there is a limited quantity of the final print version of the 2001 CMJ Directory available for purchase. The 2001 CMJ Directory costs $99 plus $5 for shipping and handling. You can order a copy at the bottom of this page.

What are the basic differences between CMJ New Music Report (print) and CMJ NMR Online? CMJ New Music Report is the print version mailed weekly out to subscribers weekly. The printed magazine also includes various copies of the Certain Damage Music Industry CD sampler (mailed roughly every 6 weeks). CMJ NMR Online is the online version of CMJ New Music Report, including the same exact content as CMJ New Music Report, but in the popular Adobe® PDF digital format. If downloaded to a shared file server or your personal computer, you can share the digital magazine with your colleagues. As the magazine is available on the CMJ.com site, you can also view the magazine from anywhere in the world with a computer. CMJ NMR Online does not include Certain Damage CD compilation samplers.
