In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week Turbo Fruits‘ Jonas Stein gives the scoop on Nashville, TN. Watch for the band’s record Butter, coming September 11 on Kings Of Leon’s record label, Serpents And Snakes.

Rock’N'Fuckin’Roll!! Our current Nashville rock scene is a product of 10 years ago when 13- to 15-year-old kids, including myself, were going to punk rock ‘n’ roll shows every weekend at this all-ages pizza place called Guido’s Pizzeria. There were always some killer touring bands rolling through. It inspired young kids to start their own bands. A lot of today’s prominent Nashville bands are run by people who were going to killer shows at a young age. I’m not talkin’ ’bout “rock night” at the YMCA Teen Center. I’m talking ’bout kids getting dropped off by their parents and devising a plan to sneak into a club or spend all of Friday and Saturday watching shows at Guido’s Pizza. Some of the bands that come from this world of 10 years ago are Turbo Fruits, Heavy Cream, Jeff The Brotherhood, Pujol, Be Your Own Pet, Natural Child, Cy Barkley And The Way Outsiders, etc. We’re all just a bunch of punks who matured a bit…kinda.
