One of our favorite post-show hangs is Luigi’s in downtown Akron. I don’t think we’ve ever had a hometown show where we didn’t end up there after the gig. The pizza is delicious, and they offer some classic Italian pastas too. Their salads are loaded with cheese—actually the ratio is way more cheese than lettuce! The best thing about Luigi’s is that it is open until 4 a.m. on Friday/Saturday and 2 a.m. on weekdays. A touring musician couldn’t ask for anything more.
We’re very lucky to have this old-fashioned drive-in right in our backyard. They’ve created their own burger culture with waiters who literally sprint back and forth to your car to make sure you get your food as fast as possible. Swenson’s has been featured on the Food Network, ABC and many others. They were even voted “America’s Best Cheeseburger.” And that’s not an understatement. There’s just something they do with their burgers that is inexplicable but amazingly delicious. You can’t go wrong with any of their cheeseburgers, especially their famous Galley Boy. Of course they have awesome fries, sides and shakes as well! Another great hang after a long gig when you just don’t feel like unloading any gear or getting out of your van. They are open until 1:30 a.m. on the weekends and 1 a.m. weekdays.
If you’re in the mood for a refreshing martini and a more upscale post-show dining experience, this place has a sophisticated atmosphere, tasty lounge music and an eclectic menu choice. The kitchen stays open until midnight, which is a bonus!
