Bunk Bar

Recently I’ve been going to a lot of shows here. The shows are cheap, and they bring in a lot of great out-of-town bands. It’s a great place to see music because it really feels like people are there to listen. First off, it’s pretty gosh darn loud, so you don’t have a choice, but secondly, they have some of the best bands play here. Some of my favorite shows here were Sharon Van Etten and a secret Built To Spill show! I was sad that I missed the War On Drugs and Kurt Vile when they played here. They also have great food and good drinks!

Star Theater

This is a new venue in town, and I’m a fan ’cause they have a lot of rock ‘n’ roll shows. I saw Ty Segall, and it was an awesome show. The stage setup is cool, and they also have a patio that’s convenient to catch a breath of fresh air or smoke a cigarette.

Mississippi Studios

This place has been around for a long time. It has some of the best sound in Portland. They used to have a lot more quiet bands, but over the last few years they have a lot more variety. They also have a small bar, called Bar Bar, that’s attached where you can eat burgers and drink or hang outside on the patio by a fireplace!
