The best sound in town. Tix can be expensive because they book bands that should be playing bigger rooms, but you are guaranteed a good show if you pony up.
A chic and relatively affordable inner SE staple. The booking taste here is exquisite, if eclectic. Happy hours with champagne and hor d’oeuvres, putt putt golf tourneys and music that runs the gamut from sissy bounce to indie rock.
Right in the heart of downtown, this spot has the best Sazerac (with absinthe) in town, and every night there’s something going on there for free.
These don’t really exist in Portland, and if a good speakeasy did exist, there’s no way I’d blow up the spot here. Unless you live in SE and want cart food, you’re better off just heading to my house.
