Bands Worth Watching
City Of Lights
Joe: A band that is interesting me at the moment in Leeds is City Of Lights. This is a new band that has been working on its sound for about eight months now but has been
making noise in and around the Leeds open mic scene.
Dave: City Of Lights are great. They’ve supported us a few times recently and have really developed musically in the short time they’ve been a band. Their songwriting is really mature, and I think they’ve got a unique sound. In fact I offered to produce their first
single, which is featured in the video above!

Joe: Another band that I have been watching for about two years now is Ellen And The Escapades. I used to go to college with the singer. They are now working with Communion (Ben’s label from Mumford And Sons). They have played live at Leeds a couple of times. They have also played Leeds festival.
Ilona
Dave: Not strictly a Leeds artist, but one who we’ve met on our travels and who has supported us many times around the U.K. Ilona has an amazingly powerful voice, supported by some classically written songs. I think with the right band behind her she could really do well on the pop/rock scene. She reminds me of a young Anastasia or Pink. She’s playing at SXSW this year, and I expect the American audiences will love her.
