An unfortunate duo of sad news this week, beginning with a bit of a rough go in Dublin, Ireland, over the weekend. During a Swedish House Mafia concert in Phoenix Park, nine people were injured, some critically, suffering stab wounds from both knives and broken bottles, as well as one man dying of a suspected drug overdose.
Steven Pratt, drummer of the band Poop, was beaten to death after a suspected altercation with bassist and bandmate Jacob Bach outside of a Fullerton, CA, rehearsal space. Bach is being held in an Orange County prison on charges unrelated to the beating, and his bail is set at $20,000.
Buzzmedia, the owners (or advertising contributors to) sites like Stereogum, Hypemachine and Idolater, has purchased Spin Media. All reports seem to be pointing toward Spin becoming a more digitized magazine, and as such, there are talks of phasing out the print publication all together.
Director Spike Lee is in post-production for his new Michael Jackson documentary, which will focus on the Bad years. The doc will include interviews from basically everyone who’s anyone, including Kanye, Mariah and Cee Lo, and is intended to be released during the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the release of Bad this September.
