In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week, Wild Adriatic gives us the scoop on Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY. Their debut full-length, Big Suspicious, was released this week.
Most folks don’t think of Upstate New York as a thriving music scene, but then again, most folks forget that there’s an entire state outside of New York City. We’ve spent most of our lives here playing in bands, and it’s been an amazing thing to watch the area burgeon into a real, honest-to-goodness music scene. Local radio stations like independent heavyweight WEQX have played an integral role in the development of our tight-knit scene here, with program director Jeff Morad and music director/local music show host Kim Neaton leading the charge on finding and promoting the best music the area has to offer. The bars keep getting better and smarter, the bands keep getting more creative and professional, and the people who come to shows have finally started to dance. As far as starting a band, what more could you ask for than being mere hours from NYC, Boston, Philly, Burlington, and beyond?
