In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week, Felipe Puperi of psychedelic space-groovers Wannabe Jalva, clue us to the sitch in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Their new album, Collecture, will be out October 15.
Porto Alegre is well known as the capital of Brazilian rock. That explains a lot about what kind of bands and genres predominate here. The city is full of great people and great music. There are only a few record stores and not too many venues (except huge ones), which makes it difficult for new artists. Currently it’s possible to go watch shows of old-school acclaimed bands as well as new acts.
