Bands Worth Watching
Quiero Club is a five-piece that is part of an art and music collective called Happy Fi. The band has an indie, electro-pop sound that is a little bit like Le Tigre and puts on a really fun live show: One of the girls in the band can sing and dance while hula hooping through an entire song.
Natalia LaFourcade is a singer and songwriter who is the closest thing Mexico has to Bjork. In any format she plays in, whether it is solo or with a 15-piece band, she puts on an amazing show. Natalia also produced a song on my record called “Tu Y Yo.”
Rey Pila is the solo project of Diego Solórzano, who was in a band called Los Dynamite. He makes really cool songs in English and Spanish that are sort of retro feeling but with lots of synths.
