In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week P Affection gives the scoop on Dublin, Ireland.
Ireland is alive. Music courses through its veins. Like the hedge schools of old, we meet in secret and learn from each other. Underground. Like an old petrol motor running on alcohol and good vibes, we push on; constantly changing and constantly reinventing. That has always been the Irish way. Mass rocks have been replaced by stages; our altar. Like diocese, our scene is made of pockets of DIY shows and people making things happen, all connected by one common cause: music. On the shoulders of great poets, writers and musicians we see Irish art surge. Recession and economic downturn? The revolution is here, and it is loud and exciting and real. This is our assembly, and we are doing it the Irish way.
