In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week Odonis Odonis gives the scoop on Toronto, Canada.

The Toronto underground is split up into disjointed micro-scenes, usually being repped by a small label (e.g., Daps, We Are Busy Bodies, Pleasence, Blocks, Not Unlike, Unfamiliar, TER, Blue Fog, Hand Drawn Dracula, Inyrdisk, etc.). The bands in each of these scenes are wildly diverse with strong players in every genre. For the Canadian release of our record Hollandaze (FatCat), we brought together three such labels (Daps (indie-pop phenoms), Buzz (fuzz punks) and Pleasence (weirdo rock)). Right now, Toronto is a hotbed of new bands and sounds, and we wanted to bring to light what the city offers through a collaborative effort amongst friends.

Trends? Musically there are darker, spookier vibes developing, and everyone seems to be starting their own record label/DIY space.
