In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week, Lára Rúnars gives us the scoop on Reykjavik, Iceland. Lára’s new album, Moment, was released stateside this week.

The Icelandic music scene is very exciting and creative, as well as quite big especially compared to the population of Iceland. It has a lot of different vibes to it. You can find almost every kind of music in downtown Reykjavík. This summer, reggae has been very popular, and electronic dance music. Still, the listening majority in Iceland likes more down-tempo, acoustic and natural-flow music sung in Icelandic. We love our nature and our language so I think that comes through in the creative process.
