Johnossi

In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week, John Engelbert of Johnossi gives us the scoop on Stockholm, Sweden. The duo’s fourth album, Transitions, is out now.

I would say Stockholm is more on the music map now than ever before, mostly because of the huge success with commercial dance music coming from this area the last seven years or so (Swedish House Mafia, AVICII, etc). But the core of Stockholm’s music skills I think is the songwriting. It doesn’t matter if it’s commercial teen-pop, indie, punk, dance, house or rock, a lot of top quality songs in all genres flow out of Stockholm at a steady pace. This gains confidence to the city and its creators. Times are moving so fast now, it really feels like anybody or anything could be the next big thing, everything’s blending and I’m excited about the future.
