Venues Of Note
Kilby Court is the longest-running all-ages venue in Salt Lake City, open for 14 years. Venues come and go here. Thankfully Kilby has been around to give SLC’s all-ages audience a place to see concerts. The venue itself is an old garage converted into a venue space. In the cold months you will find a fire pit with people huddled around smoking or drinking a hot chocolate.
Urban Lounge hosts the most consistently awesome shows in town. This spring, UL hosts Spiritualized, Alt-J and Menomena to name a few. My favorite local bands usually play here as well. Aesthetically it reminds me of the Empty Bottle in Chicago, with a similar kind of vibe. Divey setting but with a great sound system. Big and small bands alike perform here.
The State Room is a nice venue for a typically older audience. It has a seated area to go along with a dance floor, and the bar is in a separate room to keep chatter down while the band is performing. A great addition to the SLC music community over the past few years.
