Venues Of Note

VEGA

OK, so it hasn’t actually opened its doors yet, but VEGA is a venue that I’m opening in fall 2013 with some friends in the new Canopy Street area in downtown Lincoln. This place is going to rule. The venue/bar is inspired by some of the best/coolest venues I’ve played in around the world and, in addition to hosting amazing bands, we’ll be serving up local, farm-to-table food in the form of gourmet, internationally-inspired hot dogs (you’ve got to try the Amores Perros, our Mexican-style street dog). So, if you find yourself in Lincoln, stop by and let me serve you an amazing dog and a beer.

Duffy’s has been the dead center of the Lincoln scene for longer than I’ve been alive. Nirvana played here. Every band from Lincoln ever has played here. It’s the first venue that my old band, Eagle Seagull, ever sold out. If you’re into music and you’re from Lincoln, you’ve probably been to Duffy’s more times than you can count.

The Bourbon Theatre

The Bourbon is located in a remodeled 1920′s movie theatre in the center of downtown Lincoln and has a good selection of Bourbons (of course) and hand-crafted cocktails. Since opening in 2009, they’ve been a able to get a lot of cool, larger capacity shows that probably wouldn’t have come to Lincoln before.

Post-Show Hangs

Anywhere Downtown

I don’t know how many bars there are in downtown Lincoln, but there are a lot and on the weekends the streets are just crazy-packed with people. Everything’s pretty close together, so it’s an easy place wander around from bar to bar and see everyone you know and then grab a bite to eat at one of the three gyro places all within a block of each other.
