In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week, Daniel Symons gives us the scoop on Geneva, Switzerland. He’s currently remixing the soundtrack for the film “Amrit: Nectar Of Immortality,” a documentary about the Hindu pilgrimage to the banks of river Ganges, which will be released in September.

The music scene in the west part of Switzerland is very diverse. It covers almost every style of electronic dance music, rock, folk, pop, jazz, world music, reggae, metal, punk, classical music and hip hop. Some being more underground than others obviously. The first and the latter of these are the biggest at the moment. Every town around Geneva has its own predominant genre. There are a lot of festivals going on all year round playing every kind of music and presenting all the biggest and upcoming names in their respective genres and styles. The longest it takes to get around Switzerland is about three hours to get to the furthermost point which makes it easy to get to any event.
