In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week the Constants‘ Will Benoit gives the scoop on New Haven, CT.
I recently moved to Connecticut from Boston to open a recording studio outside New Haven. My “hometown” is probably still Boston, and I probably spend more time in NYC, but I think that the area I live in deserves a nod of respect.
I’ll be the first to admit that the scene around here isn’t exactly lively, but there are some great people and great venues here that help keep the small community not only alive but thriving and unique. The local scene(s) here are spread out between New Haven and Hartford, and because it’s not a major market, you consistently see bigger national bands playing in smaller venues, so seeing “intimate” shows becomes the norm.
