In Scene Report, musicians from all over the globe fill us in on what’s going on sonically in their hometowns. This week Holiday Shores gives the scoop on Tallahassee, FL. Holiday Shores plays Bruar Falls on Wednesday, October 19, and the Delancey on Friday, October 21, as part of CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival.
Tallahassee is a unique although un-noteworthy region for music within the South. Its primary export, in terms of musical influence on the country, was the notorious alt-rock cum rock idol template band Creed. Most acts in Tallahassee fall firmly into the genres of “folk-rock,” “folk-punk,” “punk” and your standard “hardcore” and “post-hardcore” groups. This is not the land of a tightly knit indie community. But there are a few gems that peep through the detritus, offering us hope that maybe this town can produce something amazing, one day.
