Bands Worth Watching
Rotterdam-based band. Their style has been compared to a mix of post-punk and new wave. The band swear spiritual allegiance to Rotterdam’s new wave, punk scenes with one proviso: the weirder the better. Their live shows are great, even more dangerous and exciting than their records.
The Black Atlantic is a part of Groningen, part Utrecht-based pop-folk band formed around singer and songwriter Geert Van Der Velde, former frontman for American metalcore group Shai Hulud. The Black Atlantic is all about melancholy, multi-layered vocal harmonies; inspired by such acts as Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and the Beach Boys. Their song “Fragile Meadow” is an instant classic.
Members from Utrecht and Amsterdam. They’re taking their jobs as songwriters very seriously and are known for their energetic and atmospheric live shows. Moss is on tour in the U.S. this fall. Go check them out.
David Douglas is a Dutch producer of electronic music who lives near Amsterdam. Mountain landscapes, Icelandic lupine fields, arctic coastlines and Californian fir forests invigorate his music. Royal Horticultural Society is David’s debut EP although it sounds like anything other than a debut.
