Reverend John DeLore
What’s your favorite CMJ memory?
I’ve been living in Brooklyn going on nine years. CMJ is always one of my favorite times of year. There’s so much great music happening in this city that I’ve never heard of and I know every year that the CMJ showcase is going to show me something new.
How far will you travel to get here?
I will probably take the F train from Fort Hamilton Parkway to Delancey Street. From there I will walk.
What’s your favorite NYC venue/snack joint/bar?
Joe’s Pub is lovely, though I wish their beer was cheaper. Rockwood Music Hall is great for intimacy, though I also wish their beer was cheaper. I got to play Irving Plaza once, opening for Eric Burdon And The Animals. That was the best time I’ve ever had being onstage. I don’t remember how much the beer was. They put a whole case in our dressing room.
Which other artists are you looking forward to seeing?
I’m excited to see the rest of the lineup at the so-called “roots music” night that we’re playing at the Living Room on Wednesday October 19. If I can, I’m going to try to catch Gary Clark Jr., and maybe Shonen Knife. Other than that, I’m just gonna float around town checking out random shows. There’s always something great and something totally unexpected to hear.
If you could be any type of sandwich what would you be and why?
A grilled cheese and avocado sandwich, made with two cheeses: A sharp cheddar from Wisconsin and a really soft goat cheese. Why? Because I would go really well with a dill pickle and a cold pint of Brooklyn Lager.
Reverend John DeLore plays the Living Room on Wednesday, October 19 as part of the Deli showcase.
