Austin, TX/Brooklyn, NY
How many times have you been to CMJ Music Marathon?
This will be our third CMJ and we’re glad to be back. I’ll never forget our first CMJ panel: Matt Pinfield singled out our track, “You Should Start A Band,” and debuted it on his radio show that weekend.
How far will you travel to get here?
Our band is “bi-coastal.” Half of the band is based in Austin, TX, and the other half live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I know, Austin’s not coastal. So what! What are you gonna do about it?
What’s your favorite NYC venue/snack joint/bar?
If you’re asking for my favorite combined venue-snack-joint-bar, I’m going to have to say ReBar in Dumbo. Alternatively…
Best Venue: Bowery Ballroom! We played the Ballroom this past year and both artist friendly and acoustically brilliant.
Best Snack Joint: Artichoke Pizza baby!
Best Bar: This is impossible to answer. Right now, I’m feeling like a jalapeno margarita at Night Of Joy.
Which other artists are you looking forward to seeing?
There are too many to name. Bright Light Social Hour, Black Taxi, Hank & Cupcakes, Fresh Millions… it’s going to be a great festival.
If you could be any type of sandwich what would you be and why?
I’d be a meatloaf sandwich. It’s the iconoclast of hoagies, the American original of submarines. The meatloaf sandwich respects no class or creed. It dares to kick ass in all the most delicious ways.
The Frontier Brothers will perform during CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival on Saturday, October 22 at the Mercury Lounge.
